Melissa Phillips is a product designer in Los Angeles, working across visual design and UX.
Her work tends toward complex, information-dense products, particularly in finance and healthcare, where interfaces have to stay clear under pressure. She works on design systems, on the structure underneath a product, and on the details that determine whether it holds up in practice. She collaborates closely with engineers, product managers, writers, researchers, and analysts, and with the subject matter experts who know the domain best.
Her background in art, journalism and photography influences how she designs: deciding what matters most, in what order, and for whom. She still shoots, and her camera has taken her across North America, Europe, India, and Haiti.
